individualism for the masses

BK Marcus is an amateur political economist with no formal education in the subject.

He works from Charlottesville, Virginia as an editorial consultant for the Ludwig von Mises Institute and managing editor of Mises.org.

He is no longer a house husband, nor a faculty spouse, but he is still a dilettante and a layabout, at least in spirit.

"It is no crime to be ignorant of economics, which is, after all, a specialized discipline and one that most people consider to be a 'dismal science.' But it is totally irresponsible to have a loud and vociferous opinion on economic subjects while remaining in this state of ignorance."

Murray Rothbard

BlackCrayon manqué

January 7th, 2007 by bkmarcus

Man oh man, do I love PHP. I wish I’d made the move a few years ago. Anyway, BlackCrayon is back up, except for the “market” (which is really just a bunch of book reviews tied together by Amazon web services). And the truth is that the market section has been falling apart for years now, so it needed an overhaul even before the move.

I could still use some help from anyone familiar with XML DOM or Amazon WS, but at least the main content is restored.

I really recommend XML/XSL, by the way. It’s a great way to keep your content well structured and completely separated from presentation. That’s one part of my initial implementation of the website that I’m still thoroughly pleased with.

call for assistance

January 7th, 2007 by bkmarcus

This is a call to anyone who

  1. would like to see BlackCrayon.com back up;
  2. works in PHP;
  3. knows how to do XSLT.

I sure would appreciate some help.

I’m afraid I have nothing more to offer than major gratitude and minor publicity.
