BK Marcus is an amateur political economist with no formal education in the subject.

He works from Charlottesville, Virginia as an editorial consultant for the Ludwig von Mises Institute and managing editor of Mises.org.

He is no longer a house husband, nor a faculty spouse, but he is still a dilettante and a layabout, at least in spirit.

Murray Rothbard

So did this character really think “Age of Enlightenment” was itself an “obscure French philosophical reference”? I don’t get it. And I don’t think the writers do, either. Why would she reply, “Hang on Voltaire?” Why unnecessarily pick a French guy unless she thought the Enlightenment was uniquely French, as this guy implies?
