individualism for the masses

BK Marcus is an amateur political economist with no formal education in the subject.

He works from Charlottesville, Virginia, as an editorial consultant for the Ludwig von Mises Institute.

He is no longer a house husband, nor a faculty spouse, but he is still a dilettante, and a layabout, at least in spirit.

"It is no crime to be ignorant of economics, which is, after all, a specialized discipline and one that most people consider to be a 'dismal science.' But it is totally irresponsible to have a loud and vociferous opinion on economic subjects while remaining in this state of ignorance."

Interesting and amusing interpretation. Of course, since I'm such an egotist I insert my self everywhere. So for me the key roles are reversed. Self control and determination is the individualist component of libertarianism. And escape from self responsibility is what many achieve by projecting self responsibilities: determining what sorts of foods are safe; or responsibly carrying, keeping and wielding a gun, onto the government. Sadly my sense of humor has clearly been distorted by so many collisions with people who believe, when speaking about self responsibility, that it's ethically and strategically legitimate to use the govt. as an escape key.
