One very frustrating thing about focusing on ancient history, which I’ve written about before, is that almost none of these historians seems to know anything about basic price theory — and the topic seems particularly relevant to Roman history, where present-day historians of ancient Rome are consistently clueless. So I read Forty Centuries of Wage and Price Controls: How Not to Fight Inflation, chapter 2: “The Roman Republic and Empire” and decided it was worth sharing with a broader audience. |
